Child Therapy

Child Therapy. Our process applies various integrative and holistic techniques tailored to your specific needs.

Child therapy and counseling is a form of mental health treatment that focuses on the unique emotional and developmental needs children experience. Children therapy can be an effective tool for addressing a wide range of neurodevelopmental, emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges that can affect young people.

Child therapy can be beneficial for young people to improve self-esteem and those who are struggling with separation anxiety, social anxiety, communication, somatic symptoms, mood and/or behavioral issues, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Kids’ therapy sessions use developmental and age-appropriate techniques to help them identify, understand, and express their thoughts and feelings. Some of the methods that may be used in children’s therapy include play therapy, art therapy, family support, behavior modification, and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

At the Psykhe Center for Integrative Health, Dr. Tara McCormick works with children and adolescents using a person-centered, holistic, and evidence-based practice to guide her therapy sessions, tailoring her approach to each child’s individual needs. She also works closely with parents and caregivers to provide support and guidance as they navigate their child’s mental health journey.

Therapy can also be valuable for children who are struggling with behavioral issues or trauma. Through therapy, children can develop better communication skills, learn how to express their needs, and develop healthy coping strategies. This can lead to improved relationships with family members and peers, better academic performance, and increased self-esteem, resilience, and confidence.
