The Nature of Stress

Dr. McCormick emphasizes the importance of integrative modalities in managing stress as it has profound effects on the physical body. So stress is the body’s response to a perceived internal (e.g. negative self-talk) or external threat (e.g. relationships, financial worry, job or academic pressure and responsibilities, death of a loved one). It tends to arise from an event or a life change. As a result, chronic stress may result in both physiological/psychological processes. It can put an individual at risk for mental health issues and disease.

Stress Management

While stress can be motivating and help people accomplish important tasks when stress exceeds one’s capabilities. As a result, it can cause mental, emotional, and physiological distress. Dr. Tara has helped many individuals with corporate and executive stress as well.
