Trauma and PTSD Therapy
Trauma and PTSD Therapy. Our process applies various integrative and holistic techniques tailored to your specific needs.
Trauma is a psychological and emotional response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event. When individuals experience trauma, it can have a profound impact on their lives, sometimes leading to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex trauma. PTSD is a mental health condition that can develop after a person has experienced or witnessed a traumatic event.
Dr. Tara McCormick has treated many individuals with trauma, complex trauma, PTSD during her predoctoral internship at Kaiser Permanente and her postdoctoral training at the Loma Linda Veterans Medical Center. At the Psykhe Center, she works with individuals to help them understand the impact of their traumatic experiences on their lives and develop coping strategies to manage their symptoms.
Significant trauma can cause a range of symptoms, including flashbacks, nightmares, avoidance behavior, negative mood, hypervigilance, and emotional numbness. These symptoms can significantly impair an individual’s daily functioning and quality of life. In addition to processing trauma with talk therapy and mind-body techniques (e.g. breathing, polyvagal theory, progressive muscle relaxation), Dr. McCormick uses evidence-based treatments such as cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help individuals process their traumatic experiences and reduce their symptoms.
Recovering from trauma is a process that requires time, patience, and support. Dr. McCormick and the team at the Psykhe Center provide a safe and supportive environment during Trauma and PTSD Therapy sessions. They use a compassionate and collaborative approach, creating a therapeutic alliance with their clients to help them achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
At the Psykhe Center, Dr. McCormick understands that trauma affects each person differently and can be complex to treat. She is committed to providing compassionate and personalized care to each of her clients to help individuals navigate the challenges of trauma recovery.
If you or someone you know has experienced trauma and is struggling with symptoms of trauma, Dr. Tara McCormick at the Psykhe Center can help.
